I need some good ideas for my pony. He's pretty bomb proof but we are taking him cross country in about week or two so we are trying to find something that is scary for him to jump over. We tried a tarp, body boards (brightly colored), barrels (traffic cones), brush, logs, stumps, pipes, boats, and a green cooler. (Gonna try a dummy next time.) Never blinked an eye at most of them. I'm running out of ideas here. Any ideas for safe things to jump that would be scary? Are there any colors that are scary to horses?
my horse just got his teeth floated a little over an hour ago, and he most of the sedation has worn off, but he has a little bit of a nose bleed. is normal? or should i be concerned?
some friends of mine want me to help them sell their med hunter pony. she needs a little finishing, and they have never sold a horse before and are not that knowleageable, they are selling her b/c their beginner daughter cant handle her. shes very fancy and should sell for over 6 or 7k, should i ask for a comission or a monthly/weekly fee?? im just worried they might pull out of the sale b/c they love her even though they know she does not fit what they want to do so a monthly fee night be safer, but i might make more money if i ask for a comission. ps im 17 but i have sold several horses before and this one shouldnt be a problem yeah im gonna work her a little and show her
I've got a MFT mare. When I got her, she had had 30 days under saddle, and it was just walking around an arena. I had some experience with gaited horses before I got her, but only with Saddlebreds. I know some things, like how to keep her gaiting and not trotting or pacing, but I don't know anything about a fox trot vs running walk vs rack or anything. Can someone tell me what gait she's doing in these pictures? Is it the same gait every time? And if it is a fox trot, is it a good one or a bad one? If she's really bad at it, I'm going to send her to the trainer in Ocala for a while. But if she's okay, I'll keep her here. Here are some more pictures... it would only let me put ten in. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloudsmystique/3112323464/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloudsmystique/3111492631/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloudsmystique/3121997452/ (fox trot?) http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloudsmystique/3080341212/ (rack?) http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloudsmystique/3080343940/ (fox trot?)
Im on an equine management course in college, in my 2nd year. A horse in college had to be put down today. She had liver failue, probably due to ragwort poisoning (not from college, our fields are well maintained). We have been doing our best for her for the past few weeks but it had got to a point where she was obviously not going to improve. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this, where a horse has actually survived? This is the second horse I know who has had to be put down because of liver failure, so im just curious is anyone knows of a horse who has pulled through?
