I have a question about competition and rules about tack. I found a saddle I really like and think could fit my horse. I'm not sure what discipline I'll end up doing with him and I hope to do some local showing, if I decide on something but we'll see. I've always ridden western and I wanted to try out english, but I don't know enough about it to know what I'll do with him. Anyways to the question...how far up do you have to get in shows before judges start getting picky about tack rules? When will I need a saddle specific to my discipline and not an all purpose saddle? Is the color of my helmet really going to matter THAT much? I've only ever shown in speed events, and stuff like this never mattered. So I'm serious when I ask this, I really don't know how big of a deal tack and turnout is and if it's more focused on in particular events. This is the saddle I hope to buy if that's relevant to anything https://www.btowstore.com/epages/BT2666.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT2666/Products/290908e/SubProducts/290908e-0007&ChangeAction=SelectSubProduct
i might have to sell my horse, but not sure how much to sell him for. He is a 16 year old, Morab (morgan/arabian), gelding, he is about 14.2-3ish hands, and dark bay with white star. He is very smart, and well trained, but needs expierenced rider only. He does rear if he gets really upset, and he tries to get away with stuff so the owner has to be tough, but not to tough, cause he will get his feelings hurt. He isn't mean though, just a stinker at times, but really sweet, and loves attention, and he is very beautiful. he does not act 16! i'd think he was a little yearling! haha. anyway i think he'd be good jumper (previous owner said he loves to, but ive never done it) and his trot looks more english, but he's been ridden western and good with that too. :) He has good feet, and good conformation. thank you! sorry i don't have a pic :(
I got a pair of mecate reins off of e-bay and when I got them they were really dissapointing. They are made out of sisal rope(whatever that is). They are to light and skinny and frankly they suck. I am in the process of starting to ride my 3 yr old gelding and I just couldnt get the response I wanted out of him. Luckily I didnt pay to much for them, should have been a clue. Anyway, I have a nice pair of braided cotton splitreins I can use until I can get a real pair of mecate reins. Will the work well with the slobber straps? They do have snaps on the ends. Let me know your thoughts, and does anyone have a good website that i can purchase a pair of Mecate's for a decent price. I dont have a ton to spend. Thanks a million! The split reins are flat braided, and maybe two inches thick? Just a guess but maybe that will help.
Is a Haflinger the same as a Palomino? What is the difference between... He has been riding ''English'' and ''Western'' I know there are English and Western saddles, but what is the difference in them (I know there is a difference in the 'saddles' themselves) What difference does it make which saddle is used? ''Excellent ground manners'' Not sure what this means....Can you explain I look up the Haflinger and the prices vary GREATLY...from $2,000 to over $7,500. What determines the price on them? The lines the horse comes from? Training put into the horse? Age of the horse? As you can tell I am not a horse person, but would just like to know.. Sorry, I am not trying to ask dumb Q's...I just don't know...
