I just got my mare a really nice leather halter the other day. It's so pretty and I just now decided that I will use this one for shows instead of an everyday halter. I was thinking of getting a cheap nylon halter for turnout that she can get dirty and roll with and stuff.
I don't know if I should get a breakaway halter or not? My mare is not at all active during turnout. She just walks around and eats grass and hay. So I thought maybeee it wouldn't be necessary? Or should I just get the breakaway JUST IN CASE? I dunno. What are your opinions?
Thank you !!
She isn't hard to catch it's just at the barn I board at they leave the halters on...for whatever reason. There really isn't anything she could get herself caught in besides the fence. Breakaway halter is sounding more and more convincing :P
Fencing is your traditional wooden fencing but REALLY TALL. I think they're so tall so the grand prix horses can't jump out lol
LOL...
she doesn't have her halter on 24/7! in the winter the horses are out until the sun goes down and then they go back in their stalls WITHOUT a halter. Same with summer but they go out all night.
This is a 7 year old mare. She LOVES kids(I'm 11) and she has been schooled for over 3 years.
Okay here is the website http://www.flickr.com/photos/46113396@N04/4233126868/. The picture isn't that good though, sorry!
If you know what kind it is please tell me!!!!
This is my mom's flickr account
I'm gonna learn on this horse
I know people have their own favorite kind of stirrups, so which do you like better? Traditional stirrups or the jointed stirrups? Do you think the jointed ones really do help your heel go down further?
( I use jointed stirrups, Horse S Lines )
They can be so frustrating at times!! Sometimes I have to take a deep breath and restrain myself from losing it. This is rare. My young horse was just being ridiculous today. Pulling back, being very pushy and strong and rearing up and freaking out over me putting sunscreen on his sunburnt nose. He is normally pretty good so I just got a bit annoyed.
Sometimes when your horse puts you at danger, pushes you around, refuses a jump etc don't you get so mad?
ok so here is my situation. I live on a farm and I have a 6 year old canadian horse and a 22 year old arabian horse. I love to ride but I have never taken a lesson in my life. I don't usually ride the 22 year old any more and the 6 year old is my mums. I really want to get some lessons in eventing but I don't know if I should use my mums 6 year old. I have started her on some jumps but I don't know if she is doing them properly. I am hoping that if I take lessons that my horse will learn too. So should I get another horse, I was thinking of a thoroughbred cross, or should I try to train my mums horse? The main reason I would get another horse is because when my mum and I go on trail rides, she rides the 22 year old and I ride the 6 year old and the 22 year old is slowing down so she could ride the 6 year old and I would ride the new one. if you could just give me some advice that would be great. THANK YOU!
