A blemish is a visible defect on the horse, such as a scar that does not affect the horse's use but may affect its aesthetic and financial value.

Some blemishes include, but are not limited to: scars, windpuffs, capped hock, ringbone, sidebone, splints, thoroughpin, and curbs.
