When I was little I thought I knew everything about horses. But around Christmas time, when we sang Christmas songs in school I could never figure out what a "one horse soapin' sleigh" was. It wasn't until a few years later that I came to understand that the words to Jingle Bells included a 'one horse open sleigh' (and I didn't know very much at all about horses). I can't say I'm wild about sleighing after a driving accident with a pony a few years ago - that's a whole 'nother blog post. But we do keep the tradition that we must ride on New Year's day.
