The body condition scoring system is applicable to all breeds of horses. Remember that the system evaluates the amount of fat deposited in various places of the horse's body. The body shape doesn't play a factor in the evaluation of the amount of fat deposited throughout the body. For a horse to be considered a 5 on the condition score scale, it must meet the criteria outlined in the description for that classification. Take a look at the instructional module on "How to Body Condition Score Horses" to learn about body condition scoring in more detail.
