The AERP is reporting an unconfirmed number of horses from the US and Canada that attended a competition in Utah have been affected by EHV-1 that can lead to equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM). This virus can spread quickly through horse-to-horse contact, on human hands, feed, tack and any surface in stalls, trailers or feeding equipment. This particular outbreak of EHV-1  seems to be leading to neurological disease more frequently than normal. Learn more about the outbreak and what you need to know about EHV-1 on the AERP website.
