EAST LANSING, Mich. – Horse owners can draw upon the experience and expertise of many Michigan State University (MSU) experts on Thursday, July 22, during Ag Expo.
The MSU Equine Team and My Horse University will conduct horse demonstrations to showcase the importance of selecting the appropriate hay quality and quantity for your horse and deciding whether you should supplement the hay ration with grain. It’s all about applying body condition scores to optimize your horse’s nutritional health.
Additionally, the teams will discuss hay samples, selecting the right type of hay based on your horse’s nutritional requirements, how to keep feed costs low and nutritional status high, and judging hay based on physical characteristics.
Ag Expo is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Natural resources. It runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,July 20 and 21, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 22. Admission to the grounds and parking at Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road are free.
