It's time to deworm our horses. This time of year we usually make sure we use a dewoming medication that targets bots in addition to all the other nasties that may be lurking in our horse's digestive system. Once a frost has hit, bot flies disappear, but their eggs and larvae don't. Regular parasite control, also called deworming, is important for maintaining your horse's or pony's good health. It is especially important in young and senior horses. By not deworming regularly you are opening the door to poor health. If parasite infestation becomes great it can lead to irreparable damage. Equine Parasite Control - Deworming FAQ explains the basics of deworming your horse or pony.
