I have a 16yr old welsh pony. He's very nice out in the field but when I take him inside for some other training he goes crazy bucking bolting and rearing. I am a fairly experienced rider so I know it's his problem not mine. He's kinda old so it might be pain but I want to know if anyone has any other suggestions. If your going to ridicule me about something I said or if this seems stupid to you just say it. Thanks.
Can anybody recommend any Horse Drawn Carriages around Lincolnshire. I'm thinking of booking one for a Wedding, I've looked at some on the internet but unsure if they are reliable etc. One site hasn't got any customer reviews at all, and they're asking for a very large deposit for a wedding that is 2 years away.
I am 23 and have had my own insurance for about 5 years now. I am currently with Progressive and I have a 2006 Sentra. I pay $254.00/month. I have had a few tickets, but still think this price is outrageous. Can anyone tell me what I can do, is there a company out there that is cheaper that I don t know about, am I doing something wrong? I am sick of paying these crazy fee s!! I checked geico, it was 347.00!!!!!
I have a 4 horse straight load, stock-style trailer. It doesn't have butt bars, but rather a gate that I swing shut after I load my two horses side-by-side in the front half of the trailer. There is a small panic door at the front on the passenger side that I exit out of after I load the second horse and after my son closes the gate behind the horses. Everything that I have read says to fasten the butt bar before tying the horse, but we can't shut the gate until both horses are loaded. Because of this, I have been tying the first horse and leaving him alone in the trailer while we work on getting the second horse loaded, but the first horse will occasionally (maybe 1 in 10 trips) decide he wants to get out and will pull back and break both the halter and the trailer tie. Is there a different way that I could load the horses that would be safer or more effective?
Also, what is the best type of halter and trailer tie to use? I have been using a leather halter, knowing that it will break, because I am afraid that the horses might hurt themselves if they pull back and are wearing a nylon or rope halter that won't break when they pull hard or panic. Of course, I am spending A LOT of money buying & repairing leather halters. Should I use a nylon or rope halter instead? As for the trailer ties, I have tried both nylon trailer ties (that tend to break at the snap) as well as bungee style trailer ties (that end up snapping). What is the best type of trailer tie to use?
I even had a time last summer when a bungee trailer tie went bad at some point during the ride and the horse was no longer tied. When we stopped and opened the back exterior door, the horse tried to turn (he won't back out of the straight load, we have to unload the other horse first then let him make a very tight turn inside the trailer), even though the other horse was right next to him and the gate at their butts was still closed. The horse panicked for a while and ended up falling in the trailer, but eventually settled down, unharmed, after giving me a good scare.
Finally, we may take them on a long trip (about 750 miles) this summer in what, by car, would be about a 12-hour drive, probably 14 or 15 hours towing the horses. How long should a horse ride at any given time in a trailer?
Thank you for any advice you might offer.
