Heavy rains are expected to continue for another day according to news.com.au, adding to the woes of an already heavily flooded Queensland, Australia. Many people have been evacuated from their homes as rivers overflow their banks by several feet. Besides the water damage, citizens are contending with raw sewage, snakes and other debris carried by the flood water. Livestock is also affected, and owners are advised to move their stock to higher ground. Horsezone.com.au reports that owners have managed to move their horses ahead of the flooding although the local animal welfare authority is still handling a few cases and ask that those able to temporarily provide foster homes for any companion animals are offer assistance. Reuters.com reports however, that the landscape is 'dotted with rooftops and islands crowded with stranded livestock'.
