You might remember back in July of 2009, I blogged about the strange horse killings occurring in Florida. Later that summer, charges were laid. Now, one man has been sentenced to five years in jail for the slaughter of five horses in the Miami-Dade area. The reaction of many horse lovers is 'not enough', although the number of crimes of this nature has caused the enactment of new state laws and steeper penalties for anyone slaughtering horses for meat.
