EAST LANSING, Mich. — What you feed your horse can cause, prevent or manage a number of health conditions, but how much do you know about what’s in it the feed – and whether or not it should be? My Horse University and eXtension HorseQuest are bringing you the answers straight from the horse’s mouth via a free live webcast at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Purina Mills, a leading researcher in animal nutrition and producer of horse feed, will be featured.

“Beyond the Feed Tag: Horse Feed Ingredient, Quality, Formulation and Safety Issues,” presented by Dr. Randel Raub, director of the Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LongView Equine Research Facility, will discuss what the feed tag does not tell you and how ingredient selection, quality testing, formulation methods and safety programs can impact what you feed your horse. The Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LongView Equine Research Facility is where nutritionists, veterinarians and managers observe firsthand the interrelationship of good feed practices, good health, proper growth and development, and optimum performance.
