One person's counter canter is a another person's wrong lead.

A few years ago we were at a horse show when the judge asked for a counter canter in a command class (in a command class the judge tells the riders to perform gait changes and other maneuvers and the riders must make their horses preform them as quickly and accurately as possible). Many riders had difficulty getting their horses to counter canter because a well schooled horse will rarely pick up the wrong lead.
