As the weather turns wetter and colder, and riding isn't always possible, it's a good time to curl up with a good book. One book I recently enjoyed is Horsekeeping: One Woman's Tale of Barn and Country Life  by Roxanne Bok.

Bok and her family turn an ailing horse farm into a thriving stable and learn some very interesting life lessons along the way. In many ways this is about a dream coming true for many horse owners. Bok comes into the horse world a little later in life, and with a refreshing dose of common sense, describes the journey. The details about horse care are excellent and the author demonstrates her wisdom, humour and humility throughout the book in a way that makes you want to see what the next step will be. If you're looking for a book to put under the tree this holiday season Horsekeeping would be a nice addition to someone's library. All proceeds from the sale of Horsekeeping: One Woman's Tale of Barn and Country Life are going to support horse rescue charities.
