Horse Gestation

I am teaching my horse the sliding stop and I was wondering if I can just wear normal medicine boots or should I also wear bell boots? What footing equipment is necessary? What is the cue you give your horse to do the sliding stop? Thanks! I am new to this but I do have a professional trainer helping me! Thanks :) Do I need a certain type of shoes and when do I come to the point that I need them? My horse is barefoot right now- do I need to change that?
